3/19/2019

Boise Cascade Company has reached an agreement to acquire American Lumber Distributors and Brokers, Inc., headquartered in Birmingham, Ala.

American Lumber is a wholesale distributor of lumber as well as plywood, OSB, James Hardie siding and engineered wood products.

The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This marks the fourth regional distributor that Boise Cascade has acquired in the past year. In the past 12 months, Boise has purchased Arling Lumber in Cincinnati, Ohio; Lumberman’s Wholesale Distributors in Nashville, Tenn.; and Norman Distribution based in Medford, Ore.

“American Lumber is an exceptional supplier of many building products,” said Nick Stokes, executive vice president, Boise Cascade. “With their experienced and knowledgeable team, they will be a great addition to our nationwide distribution network and will enhance our service capacity in the Southeast.”

American Lumber Distributors says it services about 120 retail locations.

“Boise Cascade has been a valued supplier to American Lumber for 32 years,” said Walter Russell, president of American Lumber.  “This is an ideal strategic fit that will allow the combined organization to grow and provide enhanced value to our customers.”
