An emphasis on accent siding materials

1/14/2020
Accent materials on residential exteriors continue as a popular trend in the United States. Many siding manufacturers are broadening their product portfolios to include more accent materials to capture a greater share of the wall.

This proliferation of shake, shingle, and stone-look siding products supports popular design features such as contrasting gables and foundations as well as exterior entry accent walls. Coordinated product suites from a single manufacturer are appealing to siding contractors who like the sourcing convenience and help with design.

With a market focus on exterior makeovers and secondary siding, Principia expects use of masonry veneer and polymer composite as siding accent materials to accelerate through 2022. Although accounting for a small portion of national demand by volume, masonry veneer and polymer composite siding command premium pricing and are expected to total 18% of siding demand value by 2022—these accent materials have grown at twice the rate of other siding materials.
