Alpha Guardian opens new era of leadership

1/11/2019
Alpha Guardian, the maker of Cannon, Stack-On and Gun Vault brand safes – or “secure storage solutions” – named Richard Bisson as CEO.

The hiring of Bisson, a former CEO of Water Pik, is part of major leadership change at Alpha Guardian, based in Henderson, Nev. Joining Bisson on the new leadership team are Jonathan Williams, chief customer officer; Kevin Frank, VP of channel marketing; Colette Matthews, VP of innovation & brand marketing; and Jason Stone, vp of sales.

Aaron Baker is promoted to chairman of the board and remains an active and influential member of the Alpha Guardian family, the company said.

Bisson was Water Pik president and CEO from 2006 through 2017, when it was sold by MidOcean Partners to Church & Dwight. While at Water Pik, shareholder value grew from $60 million to $1.03 billion, according to the announcement. He brings to Alpha Guardian 35 years of experience in all aspects of operations and serves as a member of Alpha Guardian’s board of directors.

The company will add enhanced capabilities including channeling marketing to strengthen their strategic retailer relationships, an expanded sales force, and a new marketing excellence center of innovation and commercialization.

The company’s web site promotes statistics that support the case for growth in the secure storage solution market. For instance:

  • 54% of gun owners in the U.S. do not store their firearms safely;

  • 85 million people in the U.S. were affected by natural disasters in 2017; and

  • 90% of teens that abused pharmaceutical drugs obtained them from their home medicine cabinet, or from their friends.
