A new brand in treated lumber: FlamePRO

Koppers Performance Chemicals introduces a flame fighter.
Koppers Performance Chemicals introduced the FlamePRO brand, described as an interior Type A High Temperature fire retardant treated wood formulation, applied through pressure impregnation.

FlamePRO lumber and plywood products are pressure treated with a registered chemical formulation designed to reduce flame-spread and smoke development for enclosed structural applications. Most lumber and plywood species can be treated with FlamePRO treatment process.

All FlamePRO fire retardant treated wood is recognized as having flame spread and smoke development ratings of 25 or less when subjected to ASTM E-84 surface burning characteristics in tests of 30 minutes duration without evidence of significant progressive combustion. Consequently, wood treated with FlamePRO fire retardant carries the superior UL “FR-S” classification for surface burning characteristics.

FlamePRO fire retardant treated wood products, as described in the ICC Evaluation Services, Inc. ESR-4244, meet all major model building code requirements and comply with AWPA UC-1 and UCFA use category systems. In addition, the FlamePro treatment process meets the AWPA T1 standard.

The performance of FlamePRO fire retardant pressure treated One-Hour, and Two-Hour Wall Assemblies has been evaluated according to Standard ASTM E119 test methods.

FlamePRO retardant treated wood exhibits exceptional fire performance properties without compromising other critical engineering properties such as strength durability, corrosivity and hygroscopicity.

FlamePRO fire retardant treated wood products are backed by a 50 Year Limited Warranty Program from Koppers Performance Chemicals Inc.

The FlamePRO preservative has received UL Greenguard Gold Certification for low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Products certified to this criteria are suitable for use in schools, offices, and other sensitive environments.
