84 Lumber’s Hardy Knox receiving Career Achievement Award

3/3/2020
The Pittsburgh Business Times will present its 2020 Career Achievement Award to 84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy Knox.

The award is part of the Pittsburgh Business Times’ annual Women of Influence event. Each year the publication honors top business women in the region.

Hardy Knox, also the president of the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Western Pennsylvania, will formally accept the lone Career Achievement Award at a March 12 event at the Westin Convention Center Hotel. Additionally, 25 trailblazing women will be presented with 2020 Women of Influence awards.

“What an incredible honor to be recognized alongside such an amazing group of women,” said Hardy Knox. “Western Pennsylvania is my home, and I care so much about the business we do here, the communities we serve and all the people I get to see at work each day. I am very grateful for all the support I’ve received, and I cannot wait to continue growing, both personally and professionally, in this incredible region and beyond.”

According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Women of Influence Awards honor women who have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for other women and left a mark on the western Pennsylvania business community.

Hardy Knox assumed leadership of 84 Lumber in 1992 at age 26. One year later, the business reached $1 billion in annual sales for the very first time. Today, the company operates 250 stores across 30 states, reaching $4 billion in sales, and is primed to grow and expand into new regions across the country throughout 2020.

The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington is a luxury destination spot that features the AAA Five-Diamond Falling Rock boutique hotel and the Five-Star, AAA Five-Diamond restaurant Lautrec. It was awarded 22 stars and named one of the World’s Most Luxurious Hotels by Forbes.

“This award, and all my successes, can be directly attributed to my associates at both 84 and Nemacolin,” Hardy Knox said. “It is because of the hard work and passion that they bring each day that both businesses are thriving, and for that I am eternally grateful.”
