Nation’s Best has continued its rapid expansion moves with the addition of Crafty Beaver Home Centers.

Crafty Beaver operates three locations in the Chicago metro market. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“We couldn’t be more honored to count Crafty Beaver among the Nation’s Best family of businesses,” said Chris Miller, president and CEO of Nation’s Best. “Since 1934, they’ve established themselves as the go-to source for home improvement products and advice in the Midwest. We are proud to work with the Beres family. And we salute Paul Puttrich, who recently retired after a remarkable 40-year career, starting as a cashier and then leading them to success as the company president.”

As part of Nation’s Best’s acquisition strategy, Crafty Beaver will maintain operations under its existing name with its key leadership team overseeing company operations alongside Nation’s Best, which will provide the strategic and financial support necessary to achieve optimal growth and profitability.

“Our family’s stores have been a part of Chicago for as long as I can remember,” said Gary Beres, CEO of Crafty Beaver. “By combining our rich history with Nation’s Best, we’re taking the next right step for our businesses’ continued growth while ensuring a bright future for our long-serving team and our many loyal customers.”

Nation’s Best is a member-owner of Do it Best Corp. Founded in 2019 and based in Dallas, Texas, Nation’s Best operates 27 locations across 8 states with over 675 associates.

Prior to the acquisition, Crafty Beaver Home Centers also operated as a Do it Best member.

Last month Nation's Best continued its run of lumberyard and home center acquisitions, bringing Ron’s Lumber & Home Center in Howe, Oklahoma, and Gilmer Lumber in Gilmer, Texas, into its fold.
