Nation’s Best, the rapidly rising Texas-based hardware and home improvement retailer has acquired Simms Lumber, a Do it Best member with two locations located west of the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
Simms Lumber has been serving the Weatherford, Texas community, and surrounding region for over 100 years and is a “go-to” supplier for the professional builder community, Nation’s Best said.
Since 2005 Simms Lumber has also operated a warehouse for hire, better known as a transload or reload, in Cresson, Texas, under the tradename “MetroWest” transload. The service area of MetroWest is approximately 400 miles, where shippers of heavy bulk products, such as lumber or steel, find freight cost more economical by using rail rather than truck transportation, according to Nation’s Best.
“We are pleased to welcome all Simms Lumber associates to the Nation’s Best family and also look forward to continuing to provide the best level of service and support to the company’s customers, suppliers and all stakeholders,” said Chris Miller, president and CEO of Nation’s Best. “Simms Lumber’s state-of-the-art lumberyard, fully stocked hardware store, and MetroWest Transload operation makes it a very appealing strategic fit for Nation’s Best, having already established a strong foothold in North Texas with now 10 locations in that market.”
“We have worked very hard over the years to grow Simms Lumber into a reputable and state of the art company,” said John Simms, president of Simms Lumber. “On behalf of the entire senior leadership team I would like to say big thank you to all associates who have made this possible, we could not have accomplished what we have without you.”
Keith Kirk, general manager of Simms Lumber, will retain his position with Nation’s Best. Additionally, Simms Lumber will operate under its existing name with its key leadership team continuing to oversee company operations alongside Nation’s Best, which will provide the strategic and financial support necessary to achieve optimal growth and profitability.
