Meet the 2022 STIHL Hardware All Stars: Texas, Utah, Vt.

Here are the next three in the latest class of STIHL 2022 Hardware Store All Stars that represent community-oriented, customer-focused, high-performance hardware-and-building-supply retailing at its finest. From each of the 50 United States, HBSDealer recognized an All-Star performer.
You can read about all 50 honorees here in the digital issue of HBSDealer. Additionally, HBSDealer.com will highlight a handful of honorees one batch at a time. Three 2022 high performers from Texas, Utah and Vermont are featured below.
Texas
The Groom family originally moved to Mabank, Texas in 1943. The five Groom brothers began working together in 1948, and the first Groom and Sons’ Hardware store was founded in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas. Later, the business was sold to Nation’s Best which today runs it as a multi-store chain. “When we say full service, we mean it. Here at Groom and Sons’, we pride ourselves on having all the products you need from foundation to roof.”

Utah
When a young trooper died in the line of duty, Dave Boatwright, owner of the local Ace Hardware asked a fellow trooper how he could help. Dave received a call from the former co-worker that he had found a to-do list. Dave never hesitated to help. The next morning, with supplies from the store in hand, Dave and his son got to work at the slain trooper’s home, repairing a variety of things; and the town came together to help and support the family.
Vermont
Back in 1920, O.C. McCuin & Sons began as a source of feed and supplies for farmers. They’ve evolved into specialty categories, like delivering heating fuels. They also carry high-end logging tools like cant hooks, timberjacks, and draw shaves. In cold Vermont winters, folks choose them as the place for hearth, wood and pellet stoves. Customers even order animals to raise, from honeybees to turkeys. Their motto, “we guarantee we’ll have a little bit of something for everyone.”
