Here are the next three in the latest class of STIHL 2022 Hardware Store All Stars that represent community-oriented, customer-focused, high-performance hardware-and-building-supply retailing at its finest. From each of the 50 United States, HBSDealer recognized an All-Star performer.

You can read about all 50 honorees here in the digital issue of HBSDealer. Additionally, HBSDealer.com will highlight a handful of honorees one batch at a time. Three 2022 high performers from Michigan, Minnesota and Mississippi are featured below.

Michigan

Peter’s True Value

Peter’s has been around since 1965. “We now have our 4th generation working in the store,” said owner Peter Grebeck. This STIHL dealer’s associates still walk customers to a product instead of pointing to an aisle. And they welcome pets into all three of their stores because people feel their pet is part of their family. Every dog is offered a treat at the check-out counter. Peter said, “surprisingly most dogs immediately come to the front counter because they remembered their treat from the last visit.”

Minnesota

Beisswenger’s Hardware and Power Equipment

This hardware business and STIHL dealer recently celebrated 100 years. The Beisswenger family has played an integral role in their local community, settling in New Brighton before it was officially proclaimed as a city. Jacob and Caroline Beisswenger were one of five families that moved into the area. Since 1919, Beisswenger’s Hardware has strived to be the best hometown hardware store. The family saying is: If we don’t have it, you don’t need it.

Mississippi

Cleveland Ace

An elderly customer wanted to buy a new shovel for a tough job. Sam, the young store associate at Cleveland Ace Hardware asked about the type of job. Milton revealed it was to bury his beloved German shepherd, Boe. But it was hot and humid. “I’m going to help bury your dog,” Sam said. “I’ll meet you at your home after work and we’ll get it done.” And they did. Owner Allen Towles said, when a customer walks in the door we are there for you, and more. We go above and beyond, just like Sam did.
