McCoy’s Building Supply has broken ground on its next retail location in Lockhart, Texas.

McCoy’s President and CEO Meagan McCoy Jones and Lockhart Mayor Lew White were joined by Fire Chief Randy Jenkins and Chief of Police Gary Williamson along with McCoy’s employees who are Lockhart residents and other company representatives.

Members of the Lockhart City Staff, Lockhart Chamber of Commerce, and Lockhart Hispanic Chamber of Commerce also attended the event.

“We are a fourth-generation company. Our intention is to do things with a long-term mindset, and we are honored to be joining the Lockhart community,” said Jones. “I have been so impressed at how everyone here is an incredible steward of Lockhart’s history, while at the same time making sure this is a city that grows in a way true to its roots. Thank you for letting McCoy’s be your partner in that growth.”

The store, designed by Studio 8 Architects, will have a large, covered, drive-thru lumberyard and a fleet of delivery trucks to serve the building trades and DIY customers alike, McCoy’s said.

Eckermann Engineering will be involved throughout the project and Chaney Cox will serve as general contractor for the upcoming build.

McCoy’s first announced the new location was on the horizon after it purchased 12.8 acres of land in Lockhart in June 2022.

According to McCoy’s, the highly visible retail area between a WalMart store and HEB supermarket will allow customers easy access to the store.

The building supply dealer also announced it April that it has plans for an upcoming location in Lubbock, Texas. McCoy’s has already broken ground at the 7.5-acre site in Lubbock and expects to open the new store this year.

Based in San Marcos, Texas, McCoy’s has more than 3,000 employees. The prodealer and farm and ranch retailer operates 85 stores, 3 distribution centers,  and 2 millwork facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
