Makita U.S.A. has expanded its cordless outdoor power equipment (OPE) lineup with two new lawn mowers.

Both models are powered by two 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries, giving users more battery-powered options over gas equipment.

The new models include the XML10CT1 – 36V (18V X2) LXT 21” Lawn Mower Kit and the XML11CT1 – 36V (18V X2) LXT 21” kit.

“From homeowners to pro landscapers, demand continues to grow for battery-powered alternatives to gas equipment,” said Mario Lopez, director of product, Makita U.S.A. “The Makita OPE System includes more battery-powered lawn mowers that give users lower noise, less maintenance, zero emissions, and no fuel expenses.”

According to Lopez, the two new mowers combine cutting performance with convenience features like less weight and folding handles, so they are ideal for garage or shed storage

Both mowers can cut up to one half-acre, with the manual XML10 cutting up to 0.55 acres, and the self-propelled XML11 cutting up to 0.44 acres.

For added convenience, the mowers include folding handles to allow for upright storage in either a garage or shed.

A lightweight plastic deck allows both mowers to be operated with less strain, while the self-propel feature of the XML11 offers a variable speed of 1.5- to 3 MPH.

Other features include variable cutting height, soft start for smooth start-ups and longer gear life, ball bearings in the wheels for a smoother drive, and a rubberized soft grip handle for comfort.
