Zeeland Lumber acquires Maverick Building Systems

3/6/2018

Pushing its enterprise to seven locations in Michigan and Indiana,  Zeeland Lumber and Supply has acquired Maverick Building Systems, located in Commerce, Michigan. The move strengthens Zeeland in the Detroit market.

Maverick specializes in design and delivery of roof and floor trusses, and engineered wood systems.

“This acquisition will further our capabilities and our capacity in our Zeeland Truss and Components division, adding design and manufacturing experience in trusses and engineered wood,” said Mike Dykstra, Zeeland’s president and CEO. “Kevin and Glenn and their team are a welcome addition to the Zeeland Lumber family.”

Zeeland has grown geographically in recent years from West Michigan into Northern Indiana and Eastern Michigan, and the Maverick Building Systems acquisition is strategically located to further Zeeland’s efforts into the Eastern Michigan market.

“The solid service and quality platform that Maverick has built its business on, aligns with our values, and will help us extend our brand and market presence in the Eastern Michigan market,” said Dykstra.

Kevin Maguire, the former owner and current General Manager of Maverick, said Zeeland brings resources and opportunities growth. “After 21 years in business, the time was right to make this decision,” he said.

With the acquisition, the Zeeland Lumber enterprise increases to a total of 7 locations, including 3 full service lumber and building material yards, 3 truss and component operations, and 1 sales office/showroom location.

In July of 2016, Zeeland opened a location in Mishawaka, Indiana.
