Women Builders Council honors Magerko

2/20/2018

The Women Builders Council gave a Champion Award to 84 Lumber’s Maggie Hardy Magerko, for her role in the construction industry.

Selected as one of three 2017 recipients, Hardy Magerko was chosen for her ability to drive change. From lumber to luxury, she’s influenced both the building materials and travel industries for more than 20 years. Under her leadership, 84 Lumber has grown to more than 250 stores and was named to Forbes’ List of America’s 250 Best Mid-Size Employers for the last two years. Similarly, Nemacolin Woodlands has been rated a AAA Five-Diamond resort and boasts more than 2,000 acres of four-season amenities.

During her tenure, Hardy Magerko has transformed 84 Lumber into a leading privately held supplier of building materials, manufactured components, and services for single- and multi-family residences and commercial buildings. Her vision positioned 84 Lumber for success with a refocused concentration on its original customer niche – the professional market – topping $1 billion in sales in 1994, $2 billion in 2004 and $2.86 billion in 2016.

Also receiving the award were Palmina Whelan, American Airlines; and Judith Bergtraum, of the City University of New York.
