Cape Cod century dealers join forces

Wood Lumber Company is now part of Mid-Cape Home Centers.

The move, effective April 1, brings together a pair of century-old pro dealers in the Cape Cod region.

In a statement regarding the merger, Mid-Cape said that, “both are trusted and respected century-old lumber and building material landmarks. This move strongly reinforces the commitment by these family-owned businesses to stay, prosper, and grow locally.”

Based in the coastal town of Falmouth, Mass., Wood Lumber Company opened in 1912.

“Our goal in transitioning the business, as we have officially reached retirement age, was for the Wood Lumber Company to remain a strong employer in Falmouth and a supplier of quality materials and service to builders and retail customers,” Wood Lumber owners Dana and Eileen Miskell said.

“We feel that Mid-Cape is a perfect fit to maintain the quality products and service that Wood Lumber has always been known for,” Dana added.

Prior to this transaction, Mid-Cape operated six locations in the region.

“Mid-Cape is thrilled to partner with Wood Lumber. It allows us to grow our talented team of people and deepen our relationship with Falmouth and the neighboring communities of southeastern Massachusetts,” said Jeff Plank, CEO of Mid-Cape Home Centers.

With full-service lumber yards, building materials, and hardware stores, both Mid-Cape and Wood Lumber are recognized as local companies with an emphasis on customer service and quality materials. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We welcome Wood Lumber to the Mid-Cape family with open arms,” says Jack Stevenson, president of Mid-Cape Home Centers. “Customers of both companies will see ever-increasing convenience, a continuing focus on service, more quality product offerings, and exceptional people added to an experienced team that is dedicated to helping customers build success.”

Mid-Cape Home Centers was founded as Nickerson Lumber Co. 124 years ago.
