84 Lumber names 2017 ROY

BY HBSDealer Staff

84 Lumber had decided Mike Kamouyerou has the grit, determination and heart to succeed at the pro dealer. And today the company named Kamouyerou — manager of 84 Lumber’s Greenville, S.C. store — as its 2017 Rookie of the Year.

“We started this program to recognize new store associates who are always looking for new ways to learn, improve and grow,” said 84 Lumber COO Frank Cicero. “Mike’s strong work ethic, positive attitude and eagerness to challenge himself make him an exemplary Rookie of the Year and overall 84 Lumber associate. He’s well positioned to be a successful future leader for our business.”

Kamouyerou was one of more than 20 nominees selected from more than 250 stores around the country. He quickly became one of four divisional finalists after exceeding expectations throughout his first year with 84 Lumber. A Pittsburgh native, Kamouyerou began his career with the company as a manager trainee at the Bridgeville, Pa., store in February 2017. He was then promoted to co-manager of the Greenville location in October 2017.

84 Lumber Rookie of the Year candidates are evaluated on their achievements in their first year, including promotions, growth opportunities and commitment to 84 Lumber’s core values. Nominees are first interviewed by their area manager and divisional vice president. Each divisional finalist is then interviewed by a leadership panel at the company’s Team Headquarters.

Last year, Al Whitehead, co-manager of the North Charlotte, N.C. store, was the inaugural Rookie of the Year.

McCoy’s names new managers for Mississippi locations

BY HBSDealer Staff

McCoy’s Building Supply announced that Johnny Sellers and Brent Harman are the new store managers for locations in Laurel and Greenville, Miss.

Sellers is a native of Purvis, Miss., who joined McCoy’s Management Development Program in early 2016. Before coming to McCoy’s, Sellers owned Sellers Chevrolet in Purvis and served 35 years with the U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard.

Sellers worked as assistant manager at the company’s Vicksburg, Miss. store. Most recently, Sellers was the store manager of the Greenville.

“I’m excited to be back in the Piney Woods of southern Mississippi working with this great team,” Sellers said. “Our goal is to provide everyone who comes into our store with first class service, treating them the way that we’d want to be treated when shopping.”

“Johnny did an outstanding job leading the Greenville team this past year and I’m looking forward to the positive impact that he’s going to bring to the store and crew in Laurel,” McCoy’s Regional Manager Darien Swann said.

Harman takes over for Sellers in Greenville. He started his career with McCoy’s four years ago as a part-time yard crew member in Duncan, Okla. And quickly moved through the ranks as he demonstrated excellent customer service skills and a dedication to serving the “Born-to-Build” customer, McCoy’s said in press release issued today.

Eventually, Harman joined the company’s Management Development Program and most recently was assistant manager at McCoy’s Searcy, Ark., location.

When asked what he was most excited about in his new role, Harmon focused on customer service. “I’m so excited to meet the customers in Greenville and for them to know that no matter how big or small their project, McCoy’s is here to help.”

“I’m looking forward to the leadership and dedication that Brent’s going to bring to the Greenville store,” Swann said.

McCoy’s Building Supply is one of the nation’s largest privately held building supply retailers, along with supplying farm and ranch products. Headquartered in San Marcos, Texas, the company operates 87 stores and two millwork facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico.
