84 Lumber names 2017 ROY

3/12/2018
84 Lumber had decided Mike Kamouyerou has the grit, determination and heart to succeed at the pro dealer. And today the company named Kamouyerou — manager of 84 Lumber’s Greenville, S.C. store — as its 2017 Rookie of the Year.

“We started this program to recognize new store associates who are always looking for new ways to learn, improve and grow,” said 84 Lumber COO Frank Cicero. “Mike’s strong work ethic, positive attitude and eagerness to challenge himself make him an exemplary Rookie of the Year and overall 84 Lumber associate. He’s well positioned to be a successful future leader for our business.”

Kamouyerou was one of more than 20 nominees selected from more than 250 stores around the country. He quickly became one of four divisional finalists after exceeding expectations throughout his first year with 84 Lumber. A Pittsburgh native, Kamouyerou began his career with the company as a manager trainee at the Bridgeville, Pa., store in February 2017. He was then promoted to co-manager of the Greenville location in October 2017.

84 Lumber Rookie of the Year candidates are evaluated on their achievements in their first year, including promotions, growth opportunities and commitment to 84 Lumber’s core values. Nominees are first interviewed by their area manager and divisional vice president. Each divisional finalist is then interviewed by a leadership panel at the company’s Team Headquarters.

Last year, Al Whitehead, co-manager of the North Charlotte, N.C. store, was the inaugural Rookie of the Year.
