Kodiak Building Partners today announced today that it has acquired Sunrise Builders Supply.

Founded in Horn Lake, Miss., in 1996, Sunrise added a second location in Arlington, Tenn. in 2019. The dealer provides high-quality building supplies to builders, contractors, and DIY homeowners in northern Mississippi and southern Tennessee.

Products offered by Sunrise include lumber, engineered wood, trusses, hardware, tools, paint, and more to both area communities. The company is led by president Charles Thomas and has a combined staff with more than 100 years of experience.

In a statement issued by Kodiak Building Partners, the company said, “The lumber and building materials sector has been an important growth market.”

“Being part of a national company like Kodiak will provide increased growth opportunities for our business and employees as well as access to new vendors,” Thomas said. “For our customers, Sunrise will continue to deliver the same premium products and service excellence they expect from us, supplemented by the resources Kodiak can now provide.”

This acquisition brings Kodiak’s total owned-and-operated footprint to over 100 locations in 25 states. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“We have long admired Charles Thomas’ leadership and the stellar products, team, and culture that he has cultivated at Sunrise,” said Mike Flood, executive vice president of operations at Kodiak. “We are excited to expand within this market and continue Sunrise Builders Supply’s local legacy. Even as we grow as an organization, it remains vital to maintain our focus on local autonomy and expertise.”

Kodiak CEO Steve Swinney noted that the Colorado dealer has been studying growth opportunities in the southeastern market for some time.

“Sunrise Builders Supply stood out as a like-minded partner focused on customer-first service and deep relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and the local community,” Swinney said. “We look forward to a bright future and to welcoming Sunrise’s team to the Kodiak family.”

Kodiak Building Partners is based in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
