Leadership night for NLBMDA
Chicago -- Lumberyard companies together are stronger than lumberyard companies divided.
That's one of the messages from Bob Sanford, incoming chair of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association. The president of Connecticut-based Sanford & Hawley encouraged dealers to take part in efforts that promote the well-being of the LBM industry.
"I'm going to listen to the stakeholders, I'm going to learn, and I'm going to build consensus -- that's my goal," said Sanford.
Sanford replaces outgoing NLBMDA chair Rick Lierz of Boise, Idaho-based Franklin Building Supply.
Sanford was installed as chairman of the NLBMDA on opening night of the 2018 ProDealer Industry Summit, which concludes Oct. 19.
Other highlights of the three-day conference include a keynote address from Commander Mark Nutsch, the Green Beret whose experiences in Afghanistan were portrayed in the Hollywood film “12 Strong.” The event also includes presentations on competing against Amazon; and best practices for succession planning and attracting talent.
