New Do it Best store to open in Troy, N.Y.

Longtime business Trojan Hardware recently closed, leaving downtown Troy without a hardware store....

Jeff and Deane Pfeil, veterans of the commercial real estate industry, are opening Pfeil Hardware later this summer in Troy, N.Y., the Albany Business Review reported.

Pfeil Hardware will open at 63 Third St., the same address where the Pfeils renovated the upper four floors into 19 luxury apartments called The Conservatory. The 8,700-sq.-ft. store will be part of the Do it Best co-op and will stock hardware, small appliances, fasteners, electrical and plumbing supplies, Benjamin Moore paints and other products.

The Pfeils, who own the commercial leasing firm J.W. Pfeil & Co. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., said a hardware store is needed in the area to serve local businesses and residents. Trojan Hardware on Congress Street in Troy recently closed after 94 years in business, leaving the downtown area without a hardware store.
