High expectations for year two of home show

Last year’s inaugural South Georgia Home Showcase drew some 1,500 attendees. “This year’s show will be much bigger,” says Jay Short, president and CEO of Short & Paulk Supply Co.

Short & Paulk is co-host of the second-annual Showcase, along with Conger LP Gas.  The Feb. 11-12 event in Tifton, Ga., will feature more than 100 home improvement and propane manufacturers.

"We are building on last year's event,” said Short. “Our goal is to create a venue where our friends in South Georgia can interact with the experts, see new and innovative products, discuss style and design trends, earn continuing education credits, and see live building science demonstrations.” [Read about the inspiration for the event here.]

Day one of the event focuses on pros, Feb. 11, will be a private event for contractors, architects, and plumbers with Continuing Education courses and one-on-one time with the exhibitors and manufacturers.

The Showcase opens up to the public on Feb. 12. From 8 am to 6 p.m., attendees can visit exhibitors on the show floor and register to win more than $20,000 in door prizes. There will also be demonstrations from special celebrity guests including Lauri Jo Bennett of Lauri Jo's Southern Style Canning, Southern Living Magazine Garden Lifestyle Expert Carmen Johnston, Celebrity Chef Chip Reed and, tours of the University of Georgia Future Farmstead, a net-zero energy house of the future.

Attendees can pre-register online for free at www.gahomeshowcase.com. Registration at the door on the day of the event will be $10 per person with all door proceeds donated to the Ruth's Cottage & The Patticake House Building Fund. All concessions proceeds during the event will go to theLiteracy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County.

Short & Paulk operates home centers in Tifton, Sylvester, Albany, Dawson, and Cuthbert, a truss manufacturing plant, and a door assembly shop in Tifton.
