Orgill reports synergy with Leight Sales

Orgill says its recent acquisition of the Carson, California-based distributor Leight Sales is bringing benefits to new and existing customers. It's also bringing new executive talent to Orgill's ranks.

Memphis, Tennessee-based Orgill's president and CEO Ron Beal said the company is pleased that Bryan Moskowitz, previously CEO of Leight Sales, joined the management team at Orgill as Western area director of corporate accounts business development.

"We’ve been friends with Bryan and his late father, Alan, for many years, and our two companies share the same commitment to the retail hardware industry, and to the independent retailers who comprise it," said Beal.

Leight Sales has been a California-based source for more than 20,000 products in the hardware, tools, electrical, plumbing and paint sundries areas. The company was founded in 1943. In the 1990s, Leight made acquisitions of Pacific Wholesale Hardware and Acme Electric Supply, expanding its breadth of product.

According to the Leight Sales website, the company's secondary markets include Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, Mexico and Japan.

Following a brief transition period, current Leight customers will be serviced from Orgill’s distribution center in Hurricane Utah, one of Orgill's six distribution centers.

"Leight customers will now be able to take advantage of Orgill’s offering of more than 72,000 SKUs, as well as continued access to several significant Leight vendors being added to Orgill’s warehouse product selection," Beal added. "All of Orgill’s retail services will also be available to Leight customers."

Moskowitz officially joined Orgill on Feb. 4. He will be closing the Leight distribution center in Carson when the transition to the Orgill Hurricane facility is completed.
