For LMC, a taste of the Ivy League

2/20/2018

More than 40 LMC Aspiring Leaders and fellow dealers attended a week of executive education at the renowned University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School earlier this month.

According to LMC, the six-day executive education program was two years in the making. LMC and the Leadership Team of Aspiring Leaders, collaborated with Wharton to create a customized curriculum designed to meet the needs of those who are managing the business or will in the future.

“We are proud to have created this opportunity for a high quality executive course specifically designed for today’s leaders and future leaders in the LMC Dealer network,” said John Somerville, president of LMC.

The week‘s educational content was based on Wharton Executive Education’s Advancing Business Acumen program.

Each day LMC Aspiring Leaders and fellow dealers worked together in different teams, giving them the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow dealers while working to solve real-life business challenges.

Whether someone was looking to improve financial acumen, strategic planning, organizational and collaborative behaviors, or learning how to integrate strategy and finance, this program covered it all.

To add to the experience, four LMC Dealers from across the country and LMC staff worked closely with the Wharton faculty to develop an industry related case study.

This provided the group an avenue of learning, using multiple decision making tactics and analysis related to the LBM industry. This diverse group of LMC Dealers included Mark Torrisi, Jackson Lumber (Massachusetts); Vince Tague, Tague Lumber (Pennsylvania); Loran Hall, Mathew Hall Lumber (Minnesota); and Marc Mizgorski, Hayward Lumber (California).
