Celebrating a milestone at Hamilton Building Supply
Hamilton Building Supply is recognizing longtime associate Joe Hendershot who is celebrating his 40th anniversary with the company this month.
Hendershot began his career in the lumber and building material industry with Hamilton Building Supply at the age of 18 and has been with the company ever since.
“Joe Hendershot has been a fixture at our company for the last 40 years,” said John Perna, president and co-owner of Hamilton Building Supply. “He’s a guy that’s done just about everything you could do within our company – he’s loaded trucks, stocked shelves, purchased inventory, fixed power tools, and sold some of our biggest projects to our best customers.”
In 1981, Hendershot started his career at Hamilton Building Supply through a work co-op program with Trenton High School. His first job was working in the lumber yard and he soon showed interest in working within the store, supporting inventory purchasing, and receiving. Before long, Hendershot was promoted to the store counter and has held a sales associate role for more than 30 years.
During his career at Hamilton Building Supply, Hendershot has developed a deep experience within the lumber and building material industry and is a consummate pro, the Hamilton, N.J.-based pro dealer said.
He works with contractor and homeowner customers daily to understand their projects, assist them in their needs, and ensures they’re getting the right products and services to keep their projects moving forward.
Through the years, Hendershot has seen building trends and products evolve, but what has remained constant is his consistent attention to customer service and commitment to the Hamilton Building Supply organization.
“You can set your watch to Joe’s work schedule,” Perna points out. “Joe opens the store every morning, he gets in his station at the sales counter and he’s all business. On top of that, he genuinely cares about all of our people, our customers, and our company”
Perna noted that he couldn’t envision Hamilton Building Supply without Joe. “It’s his attitude and demeanor that helps make our organization special and we can’t thank him enough for his 40 years of service and the many years ahead.”
Hamilton Building Supply is an independent dealer of residential and commercial building materials. The company was founded in 1924 in Hamilton and since then has supported its customer base throughout New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. The dealer is a member of Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation (LMC) and the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA).
