US LBM Holdings, the fast-growing acquisition-oriented lumberyard company has struck again.

The Green Bay, Wis.-based holdings company acquired New Holland, Pa.-based Musselman Lumber from partners Galen Eby, Joe Good and Bob Quinlivan.

Founded in 1911, Musselman is a building material supplier in Central Pennsylvania with two locations serving Lancaster, Pa. and its surrounding counties.

“We are excited to join the US LBM team and the opportunity it brings to provide our customers with continued enhancements to our product and service offering,” said Eby. “Musselman has been a key partner in the development and growth of our communities for more than 100 years. Joining the US LBM team ensures that we will be a contributor for many years to come.”

The acquisition brings the number of US LBM Holdings divisions to nine and marks its 10th acquisition since 2010.

Musselman adds to US LBM’s presence in the Pennsylvania market, with recently acquired Shelly Enterprises serving eastern Pennsylvania since 1923, John H. Myers & Son serving south central Pennsylvania since 1916 and Universal Supply serving the Philadelphia market since 1965.

“Musselman is a great addition to the US LBM team, expanding our presence and capabilities in the Pennsylvania market,” said L.T. Gibson, president and CEO of US LBM. “Musselman’s dedicated and knowledgeable team of associates have succeeded by providing a local feel and focus to their customer needs, which aligns perfectly with the goals of US LBM. We look forward to continuing and expanding upon their success.”

US LBM, recipient of the 2013 HCN Pro Dealer of the Year Award, is a collection of nine leading building material distributors serving the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic in eight states, with more than 50 locations.

DuPont rolls out new building wrap

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont Building Innovations launched DuPont Tyvek ThermaWrap R5.0, a building wrap that acts as a breathable air and water barrier, while providing continuous exterior insulation.

This new addition to the DuPont product portfolio helps builders achieve higher R-value wall assemblies, improving energy efficiency while helping to reduce the chance of water accumulation in the wall, which can lead to mold and water damage that may occur when using other non-vapor permeable exterior insulation products, according to the company.

“We recognized the need for a product that can be installed like a building wrap, and provide builders a level of insulation to help improve energy efficiency and air and water protection to improve the durability of their homes," said Angela Strzelecki, North America business director, DuPont Building Innovations. "At the same time, DuPont Tyvek ThermaWrap R5.0 can help builders meet or exceed increasingly stringent codes, standards and home certification programs. ”

The product claims to deliver the benefits of a weather barrier along with an insulation value of R5.0 in a single, integrated product that can be installed using familiar installation techniques similar to those for DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap.
