Uniboard partners with California Closets
Quebec-based Uniboard, a manufacturer of engineered wood products, has entered into an exclusive supplier agreement with California Closets for the manufacture and distribution of thermofused melamine panels in the southeastern U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Uniboard will supply panels for California Closets’ Lago collection of faux wood veneer in six colors and designs.
Uniboard Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Pfleiderer AG, is a leading North American manufacturer of engineered wood products, making raw particleboard, high density and medium density fiberboard, of which more than 50% is converted into value-added melamine and laminated flooring products.
Based in San Rafael, Calif., California Closets is owned by The Franchise Co. It has franchisees in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico.
NARI hires veteran lobbyist
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) has hired Thomas Sullivan to represent the industry’s interests in Washington, D.C. Recently of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, Sullivan has 19 years of experience in legislative and regulatory advocacy.
Prior to joining the law firm, Sullivan served for seven years as chief counsel for advocacy in the Small Business Administration. Before his appointment to the SBA, he represented the National Federation of Independent Business, one of the nation’s leading business advocacy associations. Sullivan also served on the Congressional Affairs staff of the U.S. EPA, as well as the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Most recently, Sullivan has worked with the National Roofing Contractors Association, Associated Builders and Contractors, and the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA), among others, to include provisions for small business operators in regulatory reform legislation championed by Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.).
