GAF rolls out GAF Green Central microsite
Wayne, N.J.-based GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, has announced an update of its GAF Green Central microsite — the destination for sustainability information on all the company’s product lines.
Those lines include roofing and roofing accessories, ventilation products and siding. The microsite is designed around the full lifespan of a structure, detailing how a roofing product can contribute to ‘greening’ that structure throughout its service life from production to recycling.
In order to be most useful to design professionals, gaf.com/green includes submittal info for property owners and project teams, including the GAF LEED Playbook and ecoScorecardSM submittal tool. The site also has resources for those preparing for the next generation of green building codes, such as a template Construction Waste Management Plan, information on membrane and asphalt shingle recycling, and links to a number of helpful roofing industry resources. Additionally, free access to the Green Building Certification Institute accredited course ‘Asphalt Shingles and the Green Home’ is available at the site.

Newport News, Va.-based Ferguson Enterprises has purchased the assets of SG Supply Co., a Calumet Park, Ill.supplier of plumbing products, water heaters, hydronic heating, and pipe, valves and fittings for plumbing and mechanical contractors. The purchase price of the transaction, reported by Industrial Distribution, was not disclosed.
Founded in 1959, SG Supply Co. has one of the largest single-site soil pipe inventories in the Midwest. SG Supply will continue to operate from its current location in Calumet Park, Ill., near the state border of Illinois and Indiana, and be led by Ferguson’s Chicago area general manager, Steve Speers.
This is the third 2011 acquisition for Ferguson, a division of London-based Wolseley. They announced the purchase of Summit Pipe and Supply in January and Louisiana Chemical Pipe, Valve & Fitting in August.
With all these
Stanley Davies With all these acquisitions, hopefully the company will come up with a larger range of radiators to cater to more of the consumer market. I have looked at some radiators but none of them suit the theme of my new home, which gives me a great headache.
