Toro stokes agricultural grants with ‘Ready. Set. GROW!’

BY HBSDealer Staff

In an effort to support growers in the agricultural trade, Toro is launching a "Ready. Set. GROW!" grant program that will donate $15,000 to sustainable non-profits in the industry.

"Agricultural communities play a vital role in feeding the global population," said the company in a statement. "For Toro, we are committed to supporting growers and organizations in their effort to apply more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices…you might recognize an organization installing drip irrigation in a community garden to more efficiently use water resources; a local non-profit committed to furthering sustainable agricultural practices; or, an organization training military veterans in modern agriculture technologies."

The campaign relies on the public to nominate qualifying non-profits, which must meet one of a number of criteria that include using water-saving technologies, promoting sustainable practices, helping growers integrate modern technology, and educating communities about water efficiency or healthy lifestyles.

Entries can be submitted from Aug. 28 to Sept. 25 on the company’s Facebook page. Four finalists will be asked to submit a one-minute video describing their organizations, after which voting will be open to the public. Winners will be announced Nov. 8 and will receive grants of various amounts based on how many votes they received.

Buffalo Tools pumps up benefits of 7,000-watt LPG

BY Steph Koyfman

Central to the Buffalo Tools booth at the Orgill Market was the Sportsman Series Liquid Propane Generator, a 7,000-watt LPG that’s among the top five selling generators on HomeDepot.com.

Though LPG has existed in 3,500-watt generators, the company claims to be the first to launch a 7,000-watt generator about a year and a half ago.

Among the benefits of liquid propane is safer storage (compared with gasoline). Liquid propane is also more expedient for use in power outages. Additionally, regular gasoline contains ethanol, which can clog up the carborator over time. Liquid propane evaporates and minimizes maintenance.

National account manager Jonathan Aubuchon also cited the generator’s reduced noise levels.

"We were doing an outdoor show and I had a couple generators there, and a guy had a lawnmower next to me," he said. "The lawnmowers were louder than the generators. A big complaint with generators is the noise."

The Sportsman Series LPG is available at HomeDepot.com, Amazon, Walmart, Overstock, Wayfair and more for an average retail price of $899.

GAF products offer billboard for contractors

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Wayne, N.J.-based GAF is offering Deck-Armor and Tiger Paw Custom Logo Programs, which are designed to help GAF’s contractors and distributors differentiate themselves from their competition and also build their reputation in their community.

Tiger Paw and Deck-Armor products are promoted as safe and high-performing roof deck protection products, helping to protect roofs from leaks and moisture that can cause costly damage.

The Custom Logo Program lets GAF factory-certified contractors, distributors and lumberyards add their company’s logo to the surface of either Tiger Paw or Deck-Armor Roof Deck Protection, allowing the logo to serve as a “billboard” for their company during the roofing job. The logo can be as large as 13.75” x 24”, so it will normally be visible from the road.
