Bosch launches new line of standard duty impact drivers
Bosch Power Tools is launching a new line of 18-volt, ¼-in. hex standard duty impact drivers, the IDS181 Impactor line.
Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, HVAC professionals and other tradesmen are the target audience of the ultra-compact product.
Tools in the new IDS181 Impactor line feature a compact head length of 5.4 ins. and a lightweight design of 2.9 lbs. to deliver the best balance and control for 18-volt small- to medium-duty applications. The tools’ compact size also facilitates work in hard-to-reach spaces.
Optimized impact performance provides the best runtime and control, and optimized torque limits stripping and cam out of screws and shearing off of screw heads. In fact, the IDS181 line delivers 42% more runtime compared with similar in-class competitors, and 10% more speed for the best application control.
A Bosch patented, three-LED white light system provides shadow-free illumination for visibility in low-lighting applications.
The tools’ Flexible Power System is compatible with every 18-volt Lithium-ion Bosch battery – both FatPacks and SlimPacks.
Black & Decker adds gyroscope to screwdriver
Towson, Md.-based Black & Decker has introduced the GYRO 4V MAX Lithium-ion Rechargeable Screwdriver (BDCS40G).
The manufacturer describes the new product as “the world’s first motion-activated screwdriver.” It uses gyroscopic technology that allows users to rotate their wrist one-quarter turn to the right for forward or left for reverse.
The variable speed feature and direction change that occurs with a twist of the wrist provide improved control while screwdriving, the company said.
The 4V MAX Lithium Rechargeable Screwdriver joins Black & Decker’s expanding lineup of Lithium products, including the existing range of drill/drivers and Black & Decker’s extensive Lithium outdoor lineup featuring a string trimmer/edger, hedge trimmer, sweeper, cultivator, pole pruning saw, pole hedge trimmer, chain saw and powered lopper.
