Super Stud helps build school
Edison, N.J.-based Super Stud Building Products said it is collaborating with Drywall Specialties on the Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Regional Academy expansion in Jefferson, La.
Nearly $300,000 worth of steel framing products, including The EDGE Steel Framing System, is being used to create the expansion.
“Contributing to the Patrick Taylor School project is a great opportunity, and we are glad to take part,” said Ray Frobosilo, president of Super Stud Building Products. “We are confident in our steel framing system, The EDGE, which is the safest drywall stud on the market. Therefore our customers are not only happy with the actual studs, but also the increased safety that goes with installing The EDGE.”
When the Patrick Taylor School announced plans to expand their campus in Jefferson, La., Drywall Specialties was designated to install all of the interior and exterior metal stud framing, sheet rock, insulation and acoustical ceilings. To complete the project, Drywall Specialties reached out to Super Stud for assistance, and the two companies connected to coordinate shop drawings.
Ferguson hires hall of fame QB as spokesman
Terry Bradshaw is no stranger to the home improvement arena. The former football quarterback and current sportscaster was recently a Kickoff Breakfast speaker at a Do it Best market in Indianapolis, a guest keynoter at a BMC sales meeting in Las Vegas, and years ago was the featured speaker at HCN’s own Pro Dealer Conference.
He’s now playing for Ferguson, the plumbing and HVC giant.
Newport News, Va.-based Ferguson, the largest wholesale distributor of plumbing supplies in the United States, hired Bradshaw as the spokesperson for Ferguson’s contractor business, which consists of commercial and residential plumbers, HVAC contractors, waterworks contractors, builders and remodelers.
"When choosing a spokesperson, we wanted someone who could easily relate to our professional trade customers," said Ferguson’s director of marketing, John Gillespie. "Terry is an excellent fit because of his winning record on and off the field, and his professional yet humble style."
On a recent radio spot in the New York area, Bradshaw tells listeners: "Check out PRO Plus at Ferguson, and tell ’em Terry sent you."
PRO Plus is Ferguson’s new rewards program for frequent customers. In addition to receiving discounts and special offers on business products and services, customers enrolled in Ferguson PRO Plus can earn points for their purchases made on Ferguson Online.
Ferguson is part of U.K.-based Wloseley plc, which used to own Stock Building Supply. Stock was acquired by the Gores Group in 2009.
Hoff Companies acquires Allied Lumber dealers
Allied Lumber Dealers, a wholesale door distributor in Denver, has been purchased by Meredian, Ohio-based Hoff Cos. The purchase price was not disclosed. Allied will be merged with Hoff’s Trimco’s Millwork distribution division.
Founded in 1957, Allied Lumber Dealers has been a leading distributor of interior doors in the Front Range for more than 50 years. Under the leadership of Nick and Jim Bakarich, Allied has become a major supplier of wood doors to lumberyards, pre-hung door and millwork shops, pro dealers and other wholesalers.
Jim Bakarich will join Trimco and continue to lead his existing team in their current facility for the next several months to ensure uninterrupted service to Allied’s customer base. Jim and his team will be directed by Paul Peters, Trimco’s millwork general manager, to provide the foundation for an orderly and seamless transition from Allied’s facility into Trimco’s existing warehouse in Aurora, Colo., in early 2013.
Trimco’s recently acquired larger facility, coupled with this acquisition, will further propel Trimco to broaden its existing product lines and increase market penetration. Products will include complementary lines in exterior doors (including pre-hung and pre-finished), full line of interior doors, multiple species of stile and rail doors, moulding products and composite decking. Since Allied and Trimco service many of the same customers, the merged businesses should improve efficiencies and delivery services for the entire customer base.
Hoff Companies, now more than 100 years old, is still family-owned and managed. It has grown to include Trimco Millwork with operations in Idaho, Utah and Colorado, Western Window, Hoff Timberland division and BanBury Land Development.
