Super Bowl ad includes Armstrong (don’t blink)
Don't blink or you might miss it. Armstrong Flooring will be one of 37 brands mentioned in a 60-second Superbowl ad this Sunday, and that's sort of the whole point.
The Newcastle Brown Ale's Band of Brands meg-ad campaign (by Droga5 Advertising) is meant to make fun of advertising: in it, you'll see a couple plugging as many brands as they can muster as they jump around their new house.
"We’ve been able to participate in what’s probably the world's first crowd-funded big game ad in a really fun way, targeting a millennial audience who appreciates creative advertising, great products and a good laugh,” said Mara L. Villanueva-Heras, residential marketing for Armstrong Flooring.
The ad will air on local NBC-TV stations during the Superbowl on Sunday in the Palm Springs, California market, but it can also be found on the web (where it's currently enjoying viral status).
PPG launches a paint brand
PPG Architectural Coatings is introducing a new paint brand to the market: PPG Pittsburgh Paints.
The new brand combines the traditions of both PPG Pittsburgh Paints and DEVOE Paint, building on an existing history of what PPG describes as "quality, durability and performance to contractors, professional painters and homeowners."
“Uniting the strong equities of the PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand and Devoe Paint into this completely redesigned brand offers a powerful option to dealers who want to support a brand that will be exclusive to the dealer market,” said Dori Marks, senior marketing manager, PPG Architectural Coatings. “This launch demonstrates our commitment to the independent dealer network, which PPG has supported for more than 100 years, by offering a new level of exclusivity they can offer to the paint professionals and homeowners they serve.”
To be available exclusively to independent retailers in the U.S. — but not at PPG Paints company-owned stores — PPG Pittsburgh Paints will feature some of the most popular Devoe Paint sub-brands, such as the Wonder-Tones, Weather King and Wonder-Pro lines.
Most of the sub-brand formulas will remain unchanged, but products such as the Regency, Wonder-Pure and Kilstain Primer lines will be upgraded.
Original PPG Pittsburgh Paints sub-brands such as Manor Hall, Timeless and Sun Proof will be sold under the PPG Paints brand.
Cascade Mfg opens new Texas facility
Cascade, Iowa-based Cascade Mfg Co has expanded with the opening of a new cold-formed steel truss production facility in Tyler, Texas.
"The economy continues to recover and with it we are experiencing an increase in the interest and use of cold-formed steel for new construction projects," said Tim Noonan, commercial division manager at Cascade Mfg Co. "The second location allows us to be closer to a growing customer base in southern markets and create additional production capacity in our Cascade facility."
As cold-formed steel trusses are used mainly in applications requiring non-combustible design and materials, the facility will primarily serve the commercial construction market.
The new facility will be operational in the first quarter of 2015 and will be headed up by Emmett Koen, who will lead sales and marketing for the new location.
