STAFDA turns on new website
The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) has launched a new-and-improved website at stafda.org.
The Elm Grove, Wis.-based association’s new site offers improved navigation and mobile device compatility. It went live on June 23.
STAFDA president Mike Kangas of Alaska Industrial Hardware in Anchorage, Ala., in his President’s Message to STAFDA members said: "In today’s business environment, being tech savvy and making the most of current technology is a must."
Stopped U-Haul full of stolen merchandise
A man in Hamilton, Ontario pled guilty on June 28 for breaking and entering a Canadian Tire store last May and stealing lawnmowers and barbecues, according to local news reports.
Richard Jessop, age 27, was arrested along with two other accomplices when police pulled over their U-Haul truck for a routine traffic stop. Officers looked in the back of the vehicle and saw the stolen merchandise, along with bolt cutters and a pair of gloves.
Jessop, who has a previous manslaughter conviction and other property-related crimes on his record, was sentenced to 17 months in jail. Another occupant of the car received a 12-month sentence. The driver is still facing charges.
Tapco Group appoints VP marketing
The Wixom, Mich.-basd Tapco Group, a unit of Headwaters Inc., named Jonathan Wierengo as VP marketing.
Previously, Wierengo served as director of marketing for Tapco.
"Jonathan has demonstrated valuable leadership in helping Tapco sustain best-in-class products, value and customer service," said David Ulmer, president of Tapco.
As director of marketing, Wierengo helped introduce InSpire Cedar Shake Roofing, InSpire Slate Cool Roofing and Foundry Stone Collection Siding.
