Seiders to retire from NAHB
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced David Crowe as its new chief economist, replacing David Seiders, who is retiring after more than 20 years.
Crowe now serves as the NAHB’s senior staff vp-regulatory and housing policy. He has held several senior level positions in economics, housing policy and housing finance since he joined the NAHB in 1989. Prior to joining the NAHB, Crowe was the deputy director for the Division of Housing and Demographic Analysis in HUD’s Office of Economic Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Kentucky.
Seiders joined the NAHB in 1984 and became chief economist in 1986. Prior to the NAHB, Seiders was a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington. In 1981 to 1982, he served as chief policy analyst for housing finance for President Reagan’s Commission on Housing.
Connecticut hardware store to close
Bunnell Paint & Hardware in New Haven, Conn., is going out of business after 33 years, according to the New Haven Independent.
Owner Len Mullally has owned the store since 1975, when he converted it from a paint and wallpaper store to a hardware store. He is expected to close his doors by the end of October. The 74-year-old Mullally said he will retire.
ABC Supply names new regional fleet specialist
LBM distributor ABC Supply has promoted Bert W. Maldonado to regional fleet specialist for the company’s Southeast region. Maldonado is now responsible for all of the 67-branch region’s vehicles and vehicle-related equipment. He also manages the company’s Customer Service Delivery System program in the region. He is based in ABC Supply’s regional office in Raleigh, N.C.
Maldonado most recently served as delivery service manager at ABC Supply’s Pensacola, Fla. store. He joined ABC Supply in 2005 as a delivery driver for the Pensacola branch.
