Sears showcases outdoor living at NYC festival

Sears and Shop Your Way will be in attendance at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, presented by Food & Wine this Oct. 18-20. 

The retailer will be showcasing patio furniture, grills and entertainment with Sears designer and TV personality Ty Pennington.

"I’m all about outdoor entertaining in style," Pennington said. "So join me at the Sears lounge where you can kick back in style or try your hand at bag toss, table tennis and billiards."

Sears will be overseeing three events, including the Blue Moon Burger Bash hosted by Rachael Ray, the Jets + Chefs Ultimate Tailgate hosted by Joe Namath and Mario Batali, and Ronzoni’s La Sagra Sunday Slices, hosted by Anne Burrell and Adam Richman.

"We’re pleased to expand our presence at the 2013 Festival after serving as the exclusive grill and outdoor furniture provider at last year’s Blue Moon Burger Bash," said James Alt, SVP and president, seasonal and outdoor living, Sears Holdings. "The energetic yet refined environment, filled with thousands of attendees and culinary influencers, is the perfect venue to display our newly-redesigned Ty Pennington Sunset Beach Collection of patio furniture, launch our 2014 line of Kenmore Elite grills and showcase recreational must-haves."

All proceeds will benefit hunger-relief programs at Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.

American Standard Brands hires VP marketing

Piscataway, N.J.-based American Standard Brands announced that John Gillespie has joined the company as VP marketing for the company’s trade division.

"John brings a wealth of strategic business experience in professional trade marketing, wholesale distribution, as well as consumer marketing," said Jay Gould, president and CEO of American Standard Brands. "John will lead the domestic trade marketing team with the focus of bringing innovation and new integrated selling plans to American Standard’s U.S. wholesale business."

Gillespie comes to American Standard after nearly seven years with Ferguson Enterprises as its director of corporate marketing. Ferguson is the largest wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies and pipe, valves and fittings in the United States.

Prior to joining Ferguson, Gillespie culminated a 25-year career with Anheuser-Busch from 1980 to 2006, where he held roles of increasing responsibility within its sales and marketing divisions, most recently serving as a VP marketing. Gillespie has extensive experience in brand development, market penetration and emerging market development in business-to-business and business-to-consumer organizations in a wide variety of industries.

“We ‘re very pleased and excited to have John on board to direct our trade channel marketing initiatives,” said Chris Capone, VP U.S trade sales. “His strategic approach and proven ability to deliver outstanding business and leadership results will make him a valuable member of our team.”

Gillespie received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Christopher Newport University in Virginia.

General expands thermal-imaging offering

New York City-based General Tools & Instruments’ Predator line of Thermal Imaging Cameras is expanding to include nine extended temperature range models. General’s GTi10, GTi20 and GTi50 are now available in models with temperature measurement ranges up to 600 degrees Celcius, 1,000 degrees Celcius, and 1,500 degrees Celcius.

Designed to detect hidden heat-driven problems, General’s thermal imaging cameras detect very small temperature differences from a distance and convert an object’s invisible infrared radiation to a visible color image. These visual thermal images (called thermograms) with multiple temperature points enable the diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and poor performance far more effectively than single-spot conventional temperature measurement devices, the company said.

The cameras’ manual focus, optional interchangeable lenses and high resolution provide more accurate images and assessments than competitive models. They generate powerful, convincing images (thermograms) and related data that help technicians and contractors document findings, design solutions, and convince customers or managers to authorize recommended repairs.
