A company founded on strong coffee
Under the theory that a dusty, busy job site is no place for a standard coffee maker, a start-up company in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has launched the Coffeeboxx.
The product, compatible with K-Cups and similar capsules, is described as a durable coffee maker designed specifically for tradesmen and outdoorsmen.
“Good coffee isn’t just for the people who work 9 to 5,” said Jim Doan, founder of OXX, maker of Coffeeboxx. “The millions of tradesmen out there who literally built the world around us deserve a hot cup of good coffee too.”
Doan founded OXX in 2012 after observing dozens of home builders in his neighborhood bringing beaten and broken coffee makers to their job sites. The features of the OXX Coffeeboxx include stainless steel tie downs, a 3-ft. retractable cord and an impact-resistant polymer shell.
According to the company’s news release, the Coffeeboxx is the first of what is hoped to be several introductions of rugged appliances.
A kinder, friendlier Rapid Charger
Milwaukee Tool boosted its battery charger line with the M18 and M12 Rapid Charger.
Similar to the M18 & M12 Rapid Charge Station that launched in February 2015, the new unit will charge an M18 or M12 battery up to 40% faster than standard chargers, the company said.
“With the rapid expansion of the M18 and M12 systems, there is a growing demand to not only charge both platforms, but do so faster and more productively,” said Christian Coulis, VP product marketing for Milwaukee Tool. “While the M18 & M12 Rapid Charge Station is widely successful, some users do not require the ability to charge three packs at a time and prefer a smaller charger they can throw into their cases or contractor bag. This charger will give users the ability to accelerate the pace of a single battery charge to minimize downtime and get back to work quickly.”
Featuring Redlink Intelligence hardware and software, the station is equipped with the most advanced electronic system on the market. Redlink monitors the health of the battery packs, protecting against over charge and over discharge.
Each pack has a unique charging profile, fully optimizing its’ speed and life. As an added level of communication, the charger indicates an 80% state of charge by a slow, green flashing light. Rather than waiting until the pack is fully charged, this allows the user to pull a battery off of the charger sooner and have the confidence that they can still complete a significant amount of work.
Available in September 2015, the new Rapid Charger will be included with select M18 FUEL products, and also sold as an optional accessory.
