Scotts Miracle-Gro names Service Provider of the Year
The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has deemed A. Duie Pyle Warehouse & Distribution its 2013 Service Provider of the Year.
“A. Duie Pyle has been supporting Scotts in the Northeast with superior warehousing and transportation services out of the Westfield, Mass. facility since 2001, and during that time has proved to be an important element of our supply chain success," said Jim Iovino, VP global logistics at Scotts Miracle-Gro.
Specifically, the award recognizes the supply chain solutions company’s Westfield, Mass. and Parkesburg, Pa. facilities for their service, among other categories.
“We are extremely honored to receive this award for the fourth consecutive year," said John Wisser, director of warehousing & distribution at A. Duie Pyle. "This award reflects the Pyle Peoples’ commitment to quality and superior service."
Scotts has also operated out of A. Duie Pyle’s warehouse facility in Parkesburg, Pa. since 1994.
Chelsea Building Products promotes Hartman
Gary Hartman was named director of marketing and new business development for Oakmont, Pa.-based Chelsea Building Products.
Hartman began his career in the window and door industry 30 years ago and has accumulated experience in marketing, sales and product management.
“Gary’s extensive knowledge and broad background in the fenestration and building products industry will be a benefit to his new responsibilities in new business development,” said Terry Abels, VP of Chelsea Building Products. “Gary will continue to be an asset to Chelsea Building Products as we expand our specialty products division that includes vinyl cellular PVC and polymeric cladding applications.”
In his new role, Hartman’s responsibilities will expand to include new business development in windows, doors and in particular Chelsea’s specialty division, developing market and product strategies for the building material industry.
A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in marketing, Hartman began his career in the window industry with Season-All Industries in 1983. He worked at Chelsea from 1985 to 1995, having held many sales and marketing positions and rejoined Chelsea in 2008.
LMC Forest Products Expo picks up steam
Wayne, Pa.-based LMC hosted member dealers from around the country during LMC’s Forest Products & Building Materials EXPO last month in Philadelphia.
In the spirit of LMC’s philosophy of ‘Building Business Together’, key forest products suppliers participated in a forum with insights on the state of forest products manufacturing today and the forces that will impact production and availability in 2014.
According to event organizers, the buzz throughout the show floor centered on meeting the needs for anticipated higher housing starts in 2014. LMC’s EXPO also afforded time for attendees to meet and exchange ideas. Dealers toured Weaber Lumber Mill — a full capacity hardwood lumber facility and mill, a wood flooring plant and a brand new state of the art prime/paint plant. A Gypsum Specialty Forum also met to discuss category challenges and opportunities. A market overview for 2014 specific to the gypsum distribution channel was provided.
Bill Morse of Wm. B. Morse & Sons, Rochester, N.Y., said: “This is a critically important LMC meeting for dealers to attend. Few distractions combined with key contacts all in one room helps us cement relationships, and the lumber business is all about relationships. This is one of the most valuable meetings LMC holds.”
The event also saw increased attendance over last year, according to LMC.
