Scotch Tape gets jazzed up for back to school season
Scotch Brand is brightening its wares in time for the school year with a new collection of patterned tape. Scotch Expressions Tapes will be availabe in more than 100 patterns and colors in four varieties: magic, washi, masking and shipping.
"We are excited about the new Scotch Expressions Tapes that allow anyone to add their own personal touch to everyday items," said Jennifer Higgins, Scotch Expressions Tapes marketing manager. "The best part about these tapes is the endless possibilities and combinations of colors, patterns, textures and widths that let you create something unique, every time."
Scotch Expressions Magic Tapes mirror the transparent giftwrapping function of the original Magic Tape, but in 12 solid colors and 16 patterns that can be written on with markers. Scotch Expressions Washi Tapes, available in 17 solids and 36 patterns, are repositionable and designed for use in paper craft projects. Scotch Expressions Masking Tapes are both hardy and decorative in eight colors and four patterns, and Scotch Expressions Packaging Tapes aim to personalize packages and storage containers with one solid color and 10 patterns.
Industrial Revolution recalls LED lanterns from REI stores
REI customers are being instructed to cease use of their UCO Arka LED Lanterns, manufactured by Industrial Revolution Inc. The lantern’s wall charger plug poses a fire hazard due to its tendency to fail during normal use.
The manufacturer is recalling approximately 2,300 units. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The recalled lantern can be identified by its model number, A1265, which is printed above the plug’s prongs next to a small green dot.
Sherwin-Williams posts gains in Q2
Higher paint sales volume from the Paint Stores Group boosted Sherwin-Williams Co.’s second-quarter performance.
Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams Thursday morning reported net sales of $2.71 billion for the quarter ended June 30. That’s up 5.5% from the same quarter last year. Net sales in the Paint Stores Group increased 8.0% to $1.61 billion.
The company’s total net income for the quarter was $257.3 million, up 12.9% from the second quarter of 2013.
"The Paint Stores Group architectural volume growth was strong across all end-market segments," siad Christopher Connor, chairman and CEO. The group opened 22 net new stores in the first six months, and is on track to open 70 to 80 new stores for the fiscal year.
Sherwin-Williams brands include Dutch Boy, Krylon, Minwax and Thompson’s Water Seal.
