Red Devil goes beyond plain, old white

BY HBSDEALER Staff

To enrich any caulk project, Red Devil says its new Create-A-Color Caulk Kit makes it easy for DIYers or contractors to create a caulk color to match just about any interior or exterior design element-saying goodbye to plain old white.

The product speaks to a problem the company describes this way: Often after a kitchen or bath remodel, the rich colors of fixtures and materials that were carefully chosen to blend together have an unwanted standout bead of white caulk. The same can be true on the exterior with trim, molding and siding.

Using ordinary latex paint, chosen in a color that matches the wall paint, tile or countertop colors for example, the results are striking and create a high end look. The secret is a proprietary caulk blend that actually bonds to the paint rather than repelling it like standard caulks.

The kit includes a Standard Caulk Mixer; two tubes of specially formulated Create-A-Color Caulk, a syringe for injecting the paint and an easy to follow instruction guide. The system works in minutes to create the perfect color and can then be applied with a standard caulk gun. Pros can also purchase a heavy-duty metal caulk mixer separately for daily use on the job.

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Red Devil’s Create-A-Color Caulk is a quality formulation that has excellent adhesion, mildew resistant, interior and exterior performance, low odor and water cleanup, the company said.

Klein Tools introduces Switch Drive

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Klein Tools released the new Switch Drive Handle System to easily alternate any accessory with a power groove between a power tool and hand tool.

While power drills can make quick work of large fastening jobs, a screwdriver is still needed for those times when you need the finesse of a hand tool, the Lincolnshire, Illinois-based company explained. Klein’s new Switch Drive Handle System allows end users to switch between a power drill and hand tool minimizing the number of tools and saving space.

“While the use of power drills for fastening is on the rise, the ratio of hand tool versus power tool use is 50/50,” said Jon Ginsberg, product manager at Klein Tools. ”The Klein Tools Switch Drive Handle System offers a quick and easy way to alternate between the handle and the drill, without sacrificing the durability or performance demanded of Klein’s professional tools.”

The patented quick release mechanism in the handle secures any accessory with a 1/2-in. hex so you can move quickly from a power drill to a hand tool, while maintaining the strength and performance found in a traditional Klein fixed blade screwdriver.

Available in two models, the Power Driver Set features the Switch Drive handle plus #2 Phillips and #2 Square 6-in. (152 mm) power blades. The Power Nut Driver Set includes the handle and three 2-in. (51 mm) magnetic power nut drivers.
