US LBM adds Brooklyn business
US LBM Holdings acquired Gold & Reiss of Brooklyn, New York, from Simon Eidlisz who will continue leading day-to-day operations with his existing team.
The company will become a division of Direct Cabinet Sales with merged and shared services in manufacturing, shipping and sales.
For over 35 years, Gold & Reiss has been manufacturing and installing a diverse portfolio of cabinetry, including traditional wood, acrylic, veneers, 3-D laminates and textured Melamine’s. Selling primarily to apartment property managers, Gold & Reiss maintains a showroom in Brooklyn, as well as a manufacturing facility in Union, New Jersey, covering clientele in New York City, Long Island and the Eastern part of New Jersey.
“We are very excited to have the Gold & Reiss team join the Direct Cabinet Sales family. Their production capabilities will allow DCS to expand volume output and our service platform,” said Joe DeMussi, president of Direct Cabinet Sales. “This acquisition will give us a solid presence in Brooklyn, support the organic growth we have already experienced in the NYC market, and allow us to diversify our customer base into a previously unpenetrated property management market.”
Direct Cabinet Sales designs, installs and distributes kitchen cabinetry and related products to residential, commercial and new construction contractors in the Northeast and Florida markets. DCS operates five showrooms in New Jersey, a showroom in Boca Raton, Florida and a distribution center in New Jersey.
US LBM is a collection of leading building material distributors across North America operating 164 locations in 22 states.
Maker of Flexzilla hoses builds in Iowa
Marion, Iowa-based Legacy Manufacturing, the maker of Flexzilla extreme performance water and air hoses, is building a $10.4 million facility to consolidate its operations and double its capacity. The company needs the space, plus it hopes to bring back some manufacturing from off shore, it said.
The 133,000-sq.-ft. building will be located in Marion, Iowa — the same as its current facility — where the company has done business for over 20 years.
According to Matt Weems, VP Legacy Manufacturing, there are two main factors driving the company’s decision to build. “We have outgrown our current facility and operate out of several locations,” said Weems. “We need the space to increase our efficiencies and support continued growth for the future. This new building helps us to supply our customers at an even higher service level.”
Also impacting the decision is Legacy’s goal to re-shore more of their products. The company expects to move into the new facility during the first quarter of 2016.
While Weems says Legacy products are available in the U.S. and Canada through multiple market channels, there are opportunities for considerable growth in many others. “We are projecting significant growth in the next five years,” Weems said.
Legacy Manufacturing Company specializes in durable and innovative products including Legacy equipment for the automotive and industrial markets, Flexzilla hoses, cords and attachments, SmartFlex air, garden and RV/Marine hoses, Lock-n-Load grease guns and ColorConnex, an easy color matching system of couplers and plugs. Legacy Manufacturing is a division of Weems Industries, founded in 1986.
