Dealers continue lobbying efforts

BY HBSDealer Staff

The building material industry is looking for a few good advocates.

The 2016 Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference can put those advocates to good use. The event is designed to advance the common interests of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association, the Window and Door Manufacturers Association and the Northeast Window and Door Association. It’s slated for April 18-20 in the nation’s Capitol.

In a letter co-signed by leaders representing the three groups, dealers everywhere are invited to join the legislative effort in Washington, D.C.

“No one knows our legislative challenges better than you, and through telling your personal stories you become a persuasive and powerful advocate for policies that will make the economy and our industry stronger,” reads the letter.

In addition to walking and talking with lawmakers during Hill visits, the event will include networking and education.

“For those of you who will be joining us for the very first time, we assure you that being part of the political process is an amazing experience and an invaluable use of your time,” according to the associations.

The NLBMDA and WDMA have been cooperating to host the event for the past seven years. The NWDA joined the united effort two years ago.

Epicor announces Gift and List Registry solutions

BY HBSDealer Staff

Epicor Software Corporation has added a Gift and List Registry solution to its Epicor Eagle N Series.

The feature is aimed at helping to small to medium independent retailers boost their omnichannel customer engagement capabilities, as well as boost their revenues via wedding and baby registries — which are typically the domain of big-box stores.

Consumers will be able to create their own gift registries, as well as choose to share them publicly.

Retailers can also help point consumers in the right direction by creating sets of commonly used lists for various projects or events.

"The best way to make your store relevant is to show how your products support a consumer's specific journey," said Doug Smith, director of product management & marketing for Eagle Retail, Epicor Software Corporation. "Epicor Eagle Gift and List Registry gives small to medium retailers the ability to attract new customers with a value-added service, and expand brand reach when consumers share lists with friends, relatives or associates. It also helps boost sales and revenues and supports an improved customer experience by 'packaging' up project lists in a convenient way that ensures customers have everything they need to complete a project — including how-to instructions."
