Prestone recalls windshield de-icer
Prestone Products is recalling its Windshield De-Icer and Ice & Frost Shield products over a failure to meet child safety standards.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the trigger spray assembly can be removed from the De-Icer and Frost Shield container, allowing children to access the product. As it contains methanol and ethylene glycol, this poses a poison risk to children.
The recall affects approximately 4.1 million units, though no incidents or injuries have been reported.
The Windshield De-Icer (SKU AS-246) is sold in a clear yellow 32-ounce trigger spray plastic bottle with a black tip on the nozzle. The Prestone Ice & Frost Shield (SKU AS-247) is sold in a clear yellow 32-ounce trigger spray plastic bottle with a yellow trigger pull. The SKU number is printed on the bottom left of the back label.
They were sold at AutoZone, Kroger, Meijer, O’Reilly’s, Pep Boys and Walmart, online at Amazon.com, and other retailers from September 2011 through August 2015.
