PPG makes executive appointments

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Effective April 1, PPG Industries has named Dave Cole VP packagings coatings and Anup Jain VP specialty coatings and materials.

Jain was previously serving as VP silica products. In his new role, he will be responsible for the optical monomers and coatings and OLED/specialty synthesis businesses, as well as the photochromics R&D organization. He will continue to oversee PPG’s silica products business.

Cole was formerly president of Transitions Optical, in which PPG owned a majority interest stake until just recently.

Both Cole and Jain will report to EVP Viktor Sekmakas.

“These executives have demonstrated strong performance in leading their respective businesses," said Sekmakas. "I am confident that Dave and Anup will continue to contribute significantly to PPG’s business success in these key leadership roles."

Additionally, Rick Elias, previously SVP optical and specialty materials, has retired. He has been with the company since 1975 and has been in his most recent role since 2008.

SouthernStone rolls out weather-resistant cabinets

BY HBSDEALER Staff

SouthernStone Cabinets has its eye on what it considers "the trend [of]…bringing the comforts of the indoors to the outside." Its 2014 outdoot cabinet collection seeks to bring high-end finishes to outdoor kitchens, outfitted with Vycom’s Seaboard and materials from AZEK’s CPG Building Products.

"Seaboard is an HDPE material that lends itself well to our designs," said president Dave Baccari. "The material is low maintenance and easy to clean, standing up to the wear and tear of outdoor environments," he said.

The AZEK material is made of cellular PVC and stands up to weather extremes. "As outdoor living areas become larger and more elaborate, alternatives to wood and metal can provide long-term durability with beautifully crafted looks."

The cabinets come in nine different door styles in eight colors ranging from a contemporary slab design to a grooved panel, shaker-style door. Cabinet size and depth can be completely customized.
