Perennial Wood seeks prize decks
Eastman Chemical Co. has announced today the six finalists for the 2013 Perennial Wood Pro Challenge.
The six finalists represent a range of outdoor living trends, including the use of natural materials, decks and porches that maximize views, outdoor lounge areas and historic restorations/historic-looking new construction. Now, the public will determine the grand prize winners through crowd-sourced voting for the following finalists:

The one deck project and one porch project with the most votes when voting closes on Oct. 26 will be the grand prize winners. The trade professionals who entered the winning projects will receive up to $5,000 in free Perennial Wood products and professional photography of their winning projects.
“Since its introduction in 2012, Perennial Wood has been embraced as the next generation of premium, real wood decking and porch flooring,” said Jim Flickinger, market development manager of Perennial Wood. “The contractors who entered the Pro Challenge take pride in their decks and porches and used Perennial Wood decking and porch flooring because they know Perennial Wood is perfect for showcase projects.”
Hannan named to board of SFI
Georgia-Pacific CEO and president Jim Hannan has been elected to the independent Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) board of directors.
"I have great respect and appreciation for the work SFI does to promote responsible forest management and sustainable forestry," said Hannan. "All of us who depend on the future of our forests need to continue to work together to achieve our shared goals, and I am pleased to play a role in that crucial process."
SFI’s governance represents environmental, social and economic sectors equally to meet the many needs of forests and communities. SFI’s 18-member board includes representatives of public and private landowners, manufacturers of forest products, conservation groups, academia, aboriginal interests, community organizations, labor and government officials.
NLBMDA chief O’Brien to speak at ProDealer Industry Summit
Among the five speakers scheduled to present at the 2013 ProDealer Industry Summit is Michael O’Brien, CAE, who is president and CEO of the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Assocation (NLBMDA).
At the helm of the association, O’Brien is in charge of the day-to-day as well as various strategic initiatives. He oversees lobbying, grassroots and political action campaigns for the organization, as well as operative functions such as membership services, public relations, federation relations, industry relations and financial management.
The ProDealer Industry Summit, which is hosted jointly by HCN and the NLBMDA, will take place in Nashville, Tenn., this Oct. 23-25 and will provide educational and networking opportunities for dealers, distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers.
