A paint store distributor goes national
Kirkland, Washington-based Paint Sundries Solutions, Inc. is about ready to begin serving customers in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest from their newest distribution center in Pennsylvania.
Based in Kirkland, Washington, PSS provides supply chain solutions to retailers and manufacturers in the architectural coatings industry, delivering more than 10,000 paint products to 3,500 retail customers across the country. The company says it moves everything you find in a paint store, except the paint.
The new facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is expected to begin moving product in June. The facility adds to PSS’s national network of distribution centers, which includes facilities in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and Dallas. With its strategic location in eastern Pennsylvania, the new Harrisburg location will offer next-day service to most of the Northeast, and two-day service to the Midwest and Southeast.
“This is an important milestone for Paint Sundries Solutions,” says Don Walker, CEO of PSS. “With the addition of our Pennsylvania distribution center, our company has the ability to provide the finest products, services and technology to every market in the country.”
Marketing Magic: An indie retailer’s viral moment
Petersburg, Indiana-based Petersburg Hardware recently hit the coveted social media jackpot — the views on a recent video it posted numbered into the tens of thousands.
To promote an anniversary sale it held this spring, the retailer created a comical, sped-up video that featured Petersburg employees trying to get the details straight regarding the promotion (and an increasingly frustrated man with the answers).
To repeat: it's not a no sales tax day. It's just 7% off everything in the store — and 20% of all Echo machines, with a buy one get one for $5 on paint.
After the original video got more than 27,000 views, the store followed up with a time-lapse video of the store on sales day, held on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
Pretty remarkable for a store located in a town of just 2,500 people.
