NOCSA names Quikrete exec as president
The National One Coat Stucco Association (NOCSA) recently named The Quikrete Companies stucco products manager, Mike Griffin, to its board of directors as president.
A 30-year industry veteran, Griffin follows George Adams of EZ Wall Premix Co. as NOCSA president and is responsible for helping elevate the quality of one-coat stucco manufacturing and installation through the organization’s education and awareness programs targeted at members, building departments, architects and specifiers, builders, lath and plaster contractors.
“Mike has deep, well-rounded experience that includes everything from job-site installation and product development to sales and marketing,” said Adams. “The combination of his practical hands-on background with an unwavering commitment and passion for the industry make Mike a great fit as the next leader of NOSCA.”
Griffin, who began his career as a masonry subcontractor, is currently responsible for driving national stucco sales for Quikrete, which produces and delivers high-quality, factory-blended cementitious base coat and finish coat stuccos for the construction industry. Prior to joining Quikrete in 2007, Griffin held national and regional sales and management roles with several premier building products manufacturers.
Edward Hines Lumber plans May opening
Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based Edward Hines Lumber, a subsidiary of US LBM Holdings, will open a full-service building supply center and showroom in May in the Chicago area.
The new facility will occupy the site of the former Franklin Emery (F.E.) Wheaton Lumberyard. The downtown Wheaton, Ill., property has been vacant since F.E. Wheaton closed in 2010. The new lumberyard will be managed by former F.E. Wheaton general manager of 28 years, Pat Briody.
“I am looking forward to servicing local home builders and contractors again from this location,” he said.
Wheaton Mayor Michael Gresk also expressed his enthusiasm for this agreement.
“The addition of Edward Hines Lumber is fantastic both for Wheaton and the surrounding area,” Gresk said, in a statement. “It’s a perfect fit. That site has been a lumber company since the late 19th century, and now it’s going to return to a new useful life here in our community.”
In addition to providing a full range of lumber and building materials, the Edward Hines Wheaton location will have a window, door and cabinetry showroom and design center.
Edward Hines also operates building supply centers in Hampshire and Alsip, a Millwork facility in Kirkland, and a Window, Door and Cabinetry showroom in Buffalo Grove.
Founded in 1892, Edward Hines Lumber operates locations serving home builders and professional remodelers throughout the state of Illinois, lower Wisconsin and Northern Indiana.
US LBM Holdings is a collection of leading building material distributors serving the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic in eight states with more than 40 locations.
