NLBMDA plans OSHA crane rule webinar
The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) will host webinars on the OSHA crane rule for LBM dealers.
The hour-long webinars are scheduled for four dates: April 23 at 3 p.m.; April 25 at 3 p.m.; April 30 at 11 a.m.; and May 2 at 3 p.m.
The fee is $75 for NLBMDA members, including state and regional LBM association members, and $125 for non-members.
According to a webinar series announcement: “If your workers are on or near cranes while delivering building materials to construction sites, you may have to comply. But the new regulation is confusing and tricky.”
Service Team acquires California business
Park, Calif.-based Service Team, a provider of warranty repairs for electronic products and household appliances, has agreed to acquire Trade Leasing of South Gate, Calif.
Trade Leasing is a South Gate, Calif.-based manufacturer and repairer of trucks and truck bodies.
“I am very pleased to expand our company into the trucking industry,” said Carlos Arreola, president of Service Team. “This enables us a larger market place to develop our service business.”
Trade Leasing and its Delta Stag division have a full product line of truck bodies for both the dry freight and the refrigerated trucking industry. Trade Leasing’s fabrication plant in South Gate, Calif., is a complete facility for manufacturing and modifying truck bodies.
Home Depot recalls CE Tech Riser Cable due to fire hazard
The CE Tech 1,000 ft. Riser Cable sold at Home Depot is being recalled, according to an announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The riser cable does not meet fire-resistance standards for riser cable, posing a fire hazard, according to the announcement. No injuries have been reported.
Home Depot stores nationwide sold the Chinese-made product from January 2013 through February 2013 for about $100.
This recall involves 1,000-ft. CE Tech riser cable sold in boxes of 1,000-ft. lengths. It is intended to run between floors of a building as data cable. This type of cable must self-extinguish in a fire. The cable is gray and marked (UL) E316395. The cable’s box is blue and black and is marked CE Tech 1,000 ft. riser cable, Cat 6 23-4.
