New Trex Enhance decking product launched
Winchester, Va.-based Trex Co. launched the new Trex Enhance high-performance composite decking.
The new product will be positioned between Trex Accents and Transcend in the company’s good, better, best decking line-up, according to CEO Ronald Kaplan.
"Trex Enhance will both expand and strengthen our high-performance decking portfolio and provide consumers with a composite product that features a multitude of innovative features," said Kaplan.
Enhance won’t rot, warp, crack or splinter, and its three-sided shell protects against staining, fading and mold, Trex said. It comes in a deep charcoal Clam Shell color and a Beach Dune, described as warm, honey brown.
Lyman Lumber joins US LBM Holdings
Lyman Lumber, the Excelsior, Minn.-based pro dealer, has been acquired by BlackEagle Partners, the parent company of US LBM Holdings. Serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area as well as parts of Wisconsin, Lyman Lumber includes lumberyards in Chanhassen, Minn., and Eau Claire, Wis., as well as Carpentry Contractors Corp. and Automated Building Components.
Lyman Lumber was No. 22 on the HCN Pro Dealer Scoreboard for 2011. Annual sales, according to the BlackEagle announcement, are $100 million. The transaction was effective Oct. 28, 2011.
Lyman Lumber will join US LBM Holdings, a collection of eight pro dealer operations serving the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic in nine states with more than 40 locations. BlackStar, a New York private equity firm, is the financial backing and strategic oversight behind US LBM Holdings and its companies.
LT Gibson, CEO of US LBM, said in a prepared statement: “With over 114 years of commitment to the building products industry, Lyman has established a terrific reputation. All of our business units will benefit through this acquisition, and we are excited to welcome Lyman’s employees to our team.”
Lyman’s VP operations, Dale Carlson, will remain with the business in his new role as president. “The breadth of products and quality of services offered by all of our business lines at Lyman will only improve through our partnership with US LBM.”

ABC Supply names new operations executive
ABC Supply, the nation’s largest distributor of roofing, has promoted Mike Boggs to director of operations, a newly created position. In his new role, Boggs is responsible for championing, developing and implementing critical operational initiatives, including continued improvement of the company’s Customer Service Delivery System (CSDS), inventory management, fleet optimization, outside sales management, response to storms, and the leveraging of technology to enhance internal service quality and customer service.
The former national accounts manager since 2008, Boggs joined ABC Supply in 1989. During his more than two decades with the company, Boggs also has served in such roles as national account executive, merchandising manager for the Midwest region, sales and marketing manager for the Midwest region, low-slope roofing sales associate covering Southern Wisconsin, and outside sales associate in the company’s Madison, Wis., branch.
Headquartered in Beloit, Wis., ABC Supply was founded by Ken and Diane Hendricks in 1982. In addition to roofing, the company sells siding, windows, decking and other exterior building products. The company has more than 450 branches in 44 states and is dedicated exclusively to serving professional contractors.
