USG adds to its glass-mat portfolio
Describing it as the completion of its glass-mat portfolio, USG Corporation rolled out four new products with high-performance features.
“In an effort to provide the industry’s most robust wallboard portfolio with best-in-class service, USG now offers customers a choice for all of their glass-mat needs,” said Greg Salah, senior VP and GM, North American Gypsum at USG. “The full-line of high-performance products includes a new coated sheathing, four interior glass-mat panels, a shaftwall liner panel, a new tile backerboard and a roof cover board, all engineered with moisture and mold resistance.”
For exterior applications, the Chicago-based company introduced USG Securock Brand Glass-Mat Sheathing – High-performance sheathing for warranted protection from the elements, with new and improved coated fiberglass facer mat to maximize coverage of air/water barrier systems.
Two products were introduced for interior applications. USG Sheetrock Brand Glass-Mat Panels Mold Tough AR – High performance interior fiberglass-faced panels, offering greater resistance to surface indentation and impact damage than standard gypsum panels; and also, USG Sheetrock Brand Glass-Mat Panels Mold Tough VHI – An upgrade to abuse-resistant panels, these high performance interior panels offer very high impact resistance and added resistance to surface indentation and impact damage.
USG’s new wet area product is the USG Durock Brand Glass-Mat Tile Backerboard – For use in wet areas where moisture- and mold-resistance is required, these panels combine cement board-like tile bond with the handling and ease of use of a USG Sheetrock Brand gypsum panel.
New patterns for eyewear
St. Paul, Minnesota-based Ergodyne introduced new Kryptek camo patterns to its Skullerz Eyewear Series.
"The two new patterns: Highlander and Typhon transcend the line from workplace to woods, delivering ANSI-compliance with a unique and cutting-edge look they’ll want to wear on and off the job," the company said in its announcement.
The following Skullerz Models are now available in Kryptek patterns:
The company points to statistics from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics that estimates that 3 out of 5 workers with reported eye injuries were not wearing their safety glasses at the time of injury. Ergodyne’s goal for Skullerz Eyewear is to drive compliance by providing workers with safety glasses that are comfortable, compliant, stylish, and ultimately something they want to wear, the company said.
