New CFO and CLO named at Summit Materials
Brian J. Harris has been appointed CFO and Anne L. Benedict has been named chief legal officer at heavy-side building materials company Summit Materials. Harris’ appointment is effective Oct. 14, while Benedict’s is Oct. 1.
Harris replaces John R. Murphy, who has stepped down as interim CFO and will continue to serve as a director and chairman of the audit committee of the board of directors for Summit’s indirect parent company.
Previously, Harris was EVP and CFO at eye health company Bausch & Lomb Holdings. His resume also includes various positions of increasing responsibility with Tomkins, including president of the Gates Corp.’s power transmission business and SVP strategic business development and business administration, CFO and secretary of Gates Corp.
Prior to her new role, Benedict was a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of global law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Her specialty in corporate law involves a wealth of accumulated experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings, securities regulation and disclosure issues, corporate governance matters and various other strategic transactions. Benedict holds a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, as well as a bachelor of arts in English and psychology from the University of Michigan.
Pro dealers gather in Nashville
Education and networking are the key drivers behind the 2013 ProDealer Industry Summit, kicking off Wednesday in Nashville, Tenn.
Sponsored jointly by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) and HCN, the three-day event includes a slate of NLBMDA business on Wednesday, followed by the installation of new NLBMDA officers in an evening ceremony.
Also Wednesday night, HCN will recognize Green Bay, Wis.-based US LBM Holdings as Pro Dealer of the Year, and Pat Thorne Lumber of Chillicothe, Mo., as Independent Pro Dealer of the Year.
John Burns, CEO of John Burns Real Estate Consulting, will provide analysis and a forecast for the U.S. housing market on Thursday morning, followed by more educational sessions and a yard tour to nearby Stewart Lumber.
Friday’s session will explore the labor market, trends in remodeling and the ins and outs of component operations and opportunities.
Chad Warpinski steps in as marketing manager at Amerhart
Midwestern building materials distributor Amerhart has made three internal promotions to fill key management positions, including the appointment of Chad Warpinski to the role of marketing manager.
Most recently, Warpinski served as assistant branch manager of Amerhart-Milwaukee. In his new role, he will oversee companywide marketing initiatives for Amerhart and its suppliers.
Based in Green Bay, Wis., Amerhart is a prominent building materials distributor in the Midwestern United States with seven locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.
