National Gypsum promotes Mixson

National Gypsum promoted John Mixson to the position of VP sales and marketing. He succeeds Craig Weisbruch, who retires as senior VP of sales and marketing after 39 years.

“John Mixson and I have worked closely together over the past 15 years and whenever given an assignment, he has distinguished himself and addressed strategic challenges to the benefit of our customers and our company,” said National Gypsum Chairman, President and CEO Tom Nelson. “Throughout his distinguished career, Craig Weisbruch has been a highly effective leader who has made National Gypsum a better company by building a world-class sales and customer service organization and establishing outstanding relationships with our customers.”

Mixson began his career with National Gypsum in 1999 as director of strategic planning. In 2004, he assumed the role of southeast area sales manager and in 2008, accepted the leadership role for the company’s marketing and advertising functions. As director of marketing, Mixson led several strategic initiatives related to branding, field sales training, product development and sustainability and was instrumental in guiding National Gypsum’s new Purple branding campaign. He spent the last year as VP of sales, overseeing dealer sales and national accounts.

Gerald Volas joins the board at Trex

Trex Company has appointed Gerald Volas to its board of directors, effective March 1, 2014.

“Jerry’s extensive experience in all aspects of the home improvement sector and his in-depth understanding of leadership brands make him an excellent addition to our board," said Trex chairman, president and CEO Ronald Kaplan. "We look forward to his contributions as we work to further expand Trex’s industry-leading distribution presence, our best-in-class product platform and our branding presence.”

Volas is currently a group executive of Masco Corp., where he oversees a number of Masco operating companies. Having been in the role since 2005, he has served as group executive for nearly all of its 21 operating companies at one point or another. He has been with the company since 1982.

Volas is also a certified public accountant.

BlueLinx is joining the Fiberon network

BlueLinx Corp. has announced its plans to join the Fiberon channel network in 2014, distributing its PVC decking and railing products throughout the Buffalo and Pittsburgh regions.

“Quite frankly, we were looking for a high-end railing product to complement our existing composite deck offerings, and ended up taking on the complete Fiberon decking and railing line,” said Gerald Schomer, business manager for the BlueLinx distribution centers in Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

Specifically, BlueLinx will serve customers in the Buffalo metro area, including western and central New York and northern Pennsylvania to the Ohio border, as well as the Maryland panhandle, much of West Virginia, and western and central Pennsylvania.

“BlueLinx is a bona fide leader, building itself into one of the largest independent distributors in the U.S.,” said Doug Mancosh, president of Fiberon. "Our new relationship with BlueLinx will bring Fiberon products to millions of consumers over an enormous geographical area, sold by some of the most knowledgeable, service-oriented professionals in the distribution business.”
