Zeeland Lumber and Supply has announced plans for a full-service yard and manufacturing facility in Elkhart, Ind.

Zeeland, Mich.-based Zeeland Lumber Holdings, the parent company of Zeeland Lumber and Supply, is expanding into Northern Indiana with a distribution center, lumberyard and manufacturing facility.

The new Elkhart, Ind., facility, located at 3740 Manchester Dr., will open during the first quarter of 2014. Zeeland Lumber and Supply has had a presence in Northern Indiana since 2009 when it opened a sales office at 55900 Hoosier Ave. in Mishawaka.

The company describes the new location as a full service lumberyard and distribution facility . It will specialize in roof trusses, wall panels and floor joists.

“Everyone here at Zeeland Lumber and Supply is excited to be expanding into the Elkhart area,” said Mike Dykstra, president and CEO of Zeeland Lumber and Supply. “We believe that this move will allow us to better serve our existing Indiana clients from their own ‘backyards.’ The added addition of a manufacturing facility will also help us expand our client base in and around Elkhart County.”

Weyerhaeuser expands Flak Jacket product

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Weyerhaeuser has increased production of its new Trus Joist TJI joists with Flak Jacket protection, which feature a specialty coating that enhances the joists’ fire resistance. By upgrading to more advanced, high-tech manufacturing techniques and adding an extra shift at its Boise, Idaho, facility, the company has significantly expanded its capacity to meet growing demand for the innovative product line, as well as accommodate ongoing improvement in the single- and multi-family housing markets.

Introduced in 2012, Trus Joist TJI joists with Flak Jacket protection provide builders with a simple, cost-effective way to comply with the 2012 IRC fire protection requirements for single-family homes. In multi-family applications, TJI joists with Flak Jacket protection also make it easy to achieve one-hour floor/ceiling assemblies in multi-family applications.

“The industry response to TJI Joists with Flak Jacket has been tremendous, as builders see the installation and cost savings associated with this simpler method for meeting fire protection requirements,” said Tim Debelius, Trus Joist product manager for Weyerhaeuser. “We’re ramping up capacity to ensure we are able to meet customer requests and continue to capitalize on this successful product launch.”
